In 2008, the Molina brothers began their journey in the world of kayaking. This experience led them to venture into rafting in 2014, where they quickly stood out by winning national competitions. Their success opened the doors for them to represent Costa Rica in international competitions. In 2014, they competed in Brazil as part of the national rafting team, proudly earning a bronze medal in the slalom technical discipline.

History

Our story begins on the banks of the Naranjo River, in the community of Londres de Quepos. There, Juan José and his twin brother William grew up deeply connected to the river, which led them to become internationally experienced and certified rafting guides.

In 2014, both brothers proudly represented Costa Rica at a world championship in Brazil, where they earned a bronze medal in the technical slalom discipline—marking a milestone for national rafting. Since then, they have participated in international competitions in countries such as China, Dubai, Japan, Australia, and Colombia, honing their skills and developing a global vision of the sport. This international experience is reflected in every tour, ensuring our visitors an exciting, safe, and professional adventure.

Yeisy, originally from Tilarán, Guanacaste, holds a degree in accounting and has also studied to become a certified tour guide. Her dedication to service and strong organizational skills have been key to establishing Roots2River as an efficient, warm, and customer-focused operation. From the beginning, Juan José’s parents have been unwavering supporters of the family project. Roots2River was born from a love for the river, but it grows every day thanks to the efforts of a family that believes in purposeful tourism, personalized service, and the value of their roots.

Why Roots2River?

The name Roots2River was no coincidence—it was a deeply symbolic choice. It represents our roots—family, personal, and spiritual—that were literally born next to the river. Juan José and William grew up in Londres de Quepos, along the banks of the Naranjo River, where the water was their playground, their life school, and eventually their profession. From childhood, their connection to the river was not only physical but emotional. There they learned to read its currents, respect nature, and develop the love for adventure they now share with the world. Roots2River symbolizes that journey from the roots—the history, the community, and the values that shaped us—to the river, where we now guide people from all over the world to experience authentic and transformative adventures. It’s a name that honors our past, defines our present, and sets the course for what we want to become: a company born from the earth, flowing with the river, and grounded in strong values.
